"Abstract" is derived from the Latin word "abstrahere", which means "to detach, to move away, to separate". Abstract painting is generally understood to mean various currents of non-objective ways of painting - detached from reality. The degree of abstraction can be very different - from still recognizable or imaginable content to pure colour and form compositions or even monochrome colour fields.
Ramon PereZAguado plays in his abstractions with this balancing act between representational and abstract painting structure in order to challenge the human eye and the imagination of the viewer. His excellent skills in seemingly realistic painting techniques enable him to paint with a very wide spectrum, whereby he prefers a perceptible reference to the colour and form of the worlds of nature. ZA therefore uses the term abstractions for this category of his works.
